Unit 5: An Amazing School
In this unit, students will learn about different types of schools around the world and what makes them unique. They will explore the concept of boarding schools, international schools, and alternative schools. They will also learn about different school subjects and discuss their preferences. By the end of the unit, students will be able to talk about their own school and compare it with schools from other countries.
Activities:
- Show students pictures of different schools and ask them to describe what they see. Discuss the similarities and differences between these schools and their own school.
- Have students do research on different types of schools and prepare a short presentation about one of them. Encourage them to include information about the school's curriculum, activities, and facilities.
- Divide the class into pairs and have them interview each other about their favorite school subjects. Afterwards, they can present their findings to the class and discuss common interests.
Unit 6: Life in the Future
This unit focuses on future predictions and how advancements in technology may impact our daily lives. Students will learn vocabulary related to technology and discuss their expectations for the future. They will also explore different career paths and what skills and abilities may be required in the future. By the end of the unit, students will be able to speculate about the future and express their ambitions and goals.
Activities:
- Show students video clips or articles about futuristic inventions and ask them to discuss the potential benefits and drawbacks of such advances.
- Have students work in groups to create a presentation about a future career they are interested in. They should include information about the skills and qualifications needed for that career.
- Organize a class debate on the topic of whether technology will have a positive or negative impact on our future. Divide the class into two teams and assign them to argue for or against the motion.
Unit 7: Exploring the Natural World
This unit focuses on nature and the environment. Students will learn vocabulary related to plants, animals, and natural disasters. They will also explore issues such as deforestation, pollution, and climate change. They will discuss possible solutions to these problems and the importance of preserving the natural world. By the end of the unit, students will be able to express their concerns about the environment and discuss ways to protect it.
