Asateenager,Ihavealwaysbeeninterestedintechnologyandhelpingothers.Itwasn'tuntilItookacourseincomputersciencethatIrealizedthatIcouldcombinethesetwointerests.Ihavealwaysenjoyedsolvingproblems,andtechnologypresentsanendlessnumberofproblemstosolve.Ialsoenjoyhelpingothers,andbeingabletousemyknowledgeandskillstoassistotherswiththeirtechnologyproblemsissomethingthatinterestsmegreatly.

AsIstartedresearchingcareeroptionsthatcombinedmyinterests,Icameacrossajobcalleda“SystemsEngineer.”AfterreadingaboutwhataSystemsEngineerdoes,Iwashooked.ASystemsEngineerisresponsiblefordesigningandmanagingcomplexsystemsthatinvolvehardware,software,andnetworkcomponents.SystemsEngineersalsoworkwithotherITprofessionalstoensurethatthesystemsrunsmoothlyandaresecure.
WhatIloveaboutSystemsEngineeringisthatitisaconstantlyevolvingfield,withnewtechnologiesandchallengesarisingallthetime.Itisajobthatrequiresalotofproblem-solvingskills,whichIfeelIexcelat.Italsoallowsmetoworkwithothersandhelpthemwiththeirtechnologicalproblems.Thejobischallenging,buttherewardofhelpingothersandsolvingcomplexproblemsiswhatmakesitworthitforme.

NowthatIhavediscoveredmydreamjob,thequestionremains:howdoIachieveit?WhileIamstillinhighschool,IplantoattendcollegeandmajorinComputerScience.Whileincollege,IplantotakeclassesinSystemsEngineeringandgainexperiencethroughinternshipsinthefield.Aftercollege,IhopetofindajobasaSystemsEngineerandcontinuetolearnandgrowinmycareer.
